EFÍMERO, writing of a silent actor. A creation of Casa del Silencio - Casa del Silencio
A veteran actor (a gestural wolf of the stage) arrives to rehearse his new show; it is late at night. As he contemplates the solitude of the theater and the emptiness of the stage, his spirit trembles. In silence, he reflects deeply on his artistic life and witnesses his own retrospective. Knowing all the secrets of his art, he recalls with the mastery of his body his own creations, works he loves and that brought him glory. He draws impossible worlds of fantastic scenes, ocean storms, epic battles, and dreamlike universes; he plays with his body like a demiurge, explores, experiments, seeks inspiration, while asking himself inwardly: Will this physical poetry entertain? Will the audience remember his jester? Sacred art has devoured my life, and now what? Where is my way of making theater headed? In this deep reflection on his craft, which is also on his own life, he understands that his art is for himself, and that where there is talent, there is no old age. Joyfully, he prepares for what may be his final performance.
The new creation by La Casa del Silencio is a research work arising from the study of the characters Vasilii Vasilievich from Chekhov’s The Swan Song, and Triboulet from Victor Hugo’s The King Amuses Himself. This show is a deep reflection on the language of physical theater, through the role of the silent actor and the jester, using the technique of dramatic corporeal mime as a pretext for stage language from a metatheatrical perspective, with a powerful treatment of visual imagery.
Juan Carlos Agudelo, disciple of the French master of silent art Marcel Marceau, presents this one-man show about a veteran gestural actor who, while contemplating the solitude of the theater during a rehearsal, reflects on his art. As though it were an autobiographical piece, a kind of poem drawn on stage, the character recalls moments from works that brought him glory, and conjures fantastic scenes, ocean storms, and dream worlds.
