New piece for woodwind quintet and fixed synthesis - Brazil - Spain - Colombia

Saudade is a short piece for woodwind quintet and fixed synthesis, inspired by the 35 mm short film of the same name by Brazilian artist Anita Ekman. It emerged from a trip I made to Brazil in 2013, thanks to an invitation from the Federal University of Bahia and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, as part of the Training as Creative Practice research group, directed by maestro, conductor, and playwright José Assad.

It is a short work —2 minutes and 34 seconds—. Rather than developing an extensive formal discourse, it focuses on condensing an experience: a suspended time in which musical gestures emerge, breathe, and dissolve into space. More than telling a story, the piece tries to remain with something more fragile.

The instruments appear and fade naturally, as if breathing inside the same memory, while the synthesis extends that space and makes it diffuse, almost intangible. In that transition, the music does not describe but suggests: it hints at landscapes, encounters, and, above all, the human bonds that made that moment meaningful.

The piece was recorded in Barcelona in 2017, at the ESMUC studios, during my Master’s in Film Scoring and Music for Audiovisual Media, an experience that, like the trip to Brazil, deeply shaped my path and for which I remain profoundly grateful. This process was made possible thanks to the support of Fundación Carolina.

Saudade is, in essence, a way of returning — and also of giving thanks.

Available on platforms starting March 27.

EFÍMERO, writing of a silent actor. A creation of Casa del Silencio - Casa del Silencio

A veteran actor (a gestural wolf of the stage) arrives to rehearse his new show; it is late at night. As he contemplates the solitude of the theater and the emptiness of the stage, his spirit trembles. In silence, he reflects deeply on his artistic life and witnesses his own retrospective. Knowing all the secrets of his art, he recalls with the mastery of his body his own creations, works he loves and that brought him glory. He draws impossible worlds of fantastic scenes, ocean storms, epic battles, and dreamlike universes; he plays with his body like a demiurge, explores, experiments, seeks inspiration, while asking himself inwardly: Will this physical poetry entertain? Will the audience remember his jester? Sacred art has devoured my life, and now what? Where is my way of making theater headed? In this deep reflection on his craft, which is also on his own life, he understands that his art is for himself, and that where there is talent, there is no old age. Joyfully, he prepares for what may be his final performance.

The new creation by La Casa del Silencio is a research work arising from the study of the characters Vasilii Vasilievich from Chekhov’s The Swan Song, and Triboulet from Victor Hugo’s The King Amuses Himself. This show is a deep reflection on the language of physical theater, through the role of the silent actor and the jester, using the technique of dramatic corporeal mime as a pretext for stage language from a metatheatrical perspective, with a powerful treatment of visual imagery.

Juan Carlos Agudelo, disciple of the French master of silent art Marcel Marceau, presents this one-man show about a veteran gestural actor who, while contemplating the solitude of the theater during a rehearsal, reflects on his art. As though it were an autobiographical piece, a kind of poem drawn on stage, the character recalls moments from works that brought him glory, and conjures fantastic scenes, ocean storms, and dream worlds.
